Lakeshore site lines biggest wrinkle in wind turbine saga

Bluewater mayor Bill Dowson says the most common concern over wind turbines in the municipality is site lines along the lakeshore.

Dowson says the municipality is looking at establishing a bylaw similar to the one passed in South Huron and proposed in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh that would require a distance of 400 metres from homes and 600 metres from urban developments.

He says a little over twenty people attended a public meeting this past week and while noise was a concern, there was more concern about site lines along the lakeshore.

A bylaw being considered by the county would put most of the turbines east of highway 21 and Dowson believes there’s enough room east of the highway to accommodate the turbines without being a problem.
