Local residents will get a look at wind farm

Local residents will be able to see just what a proposed offshore wind farm would look like, before it is even built.

Bluewater Wind ““ which have put in a bid to the state and Delmarva Power to build a 200 turbine offshore wind farm ““ is planning a photo visualizations tour for the resort coast.

he exhibit will feature visual displays of the proposed windfarm as if it were being viewed from Delaware beaches.

The displays are a combination of actual photographs with the planned turbines added in by computer. Different weather effects were included as well.

It is recommended that for the best viewing of the pictures, you should hold it 10.2 inches from your eyes.

The photo visualizations tour schedule is as follows:

-April 2-8, Rehoboth Beach and Lewes libraries
-April 9-15, Dewey Beach Lifesaving Station and South Bethany Beach Town Hall
-April 16-22, Bethany Beach Town Hall and the Center for the Inland Bays
-April 23-30, Fenwick Island Town Hall.

Bluewater Wind is competing with NRG and Conectiv for a contract to add to the Delaware power supply. All three bids are under review by the state’s Public Service Commission and three other agencies.

The PSC is expected to make its recommendation of who should be awarded the contract on May 8.
