OMB hearing on wind turbine

The Canadian Auto Workers union is hoping to have the OMB overturn a decision made by Saugeen Shores Council.

The CAW wants to erect a wind turbine on its property just south of Port Elgin – but Council rejected the idea because it exceeds the municipality’s zoning bylaw.

An Ontario Municipal Board hearing is taking place today at the Council Chambers.

Planner Sylvia Rafalski Misch says the purpose of today’s meeting is to set up procedure for the rest of the hearing.

5 days have been set aside for the hearing.

The Ontario Municipal Board will determine whether a wind turbine is good land use for the designated property.
