More glen turbines planned

The company building the windfarm on Achlain and Aberchalder estates in Glenmoriston has applied for planning permission to extend the scheme by adding four more turbines.

Falck Renewables received permission for a 16-turbine windfarm in April 2005 after removing four turbines from their original proposal to minimise the local visual effects of the project.

Falck Renewables project manager Ewan Currie said: “We have been carrying out detailed surveys over the past 12 months to find better sites for the four turbines we dropped from our initial plans. We believe we’ve now identified more appropriate locations for the additional four turbines which we hope will be acceptable to the local community.”

Public exhibitions will be held over the next few weeks in Fort Augustus and Invergarry to give locals the opportunity to find out more about the plans.
