NSW opportunities in the wind for Victorian energy firms

Wind farm companies operating in Victoria are watching the New South Wales state election very closely.

The NSW Government is promising a 15 per cent green energy target by 2020.

The energy can be created outside the state.

The Liberals’ renewable energy policy requires the bulk of the energy be created within NSW.

Pacific Hydro’s Andrew Richards says the ALP policy means Victorian wind farms could supply NSW with the Victorian Renewable Energy Target scheme already reaching capacity.

“If the Labor Party is returned, then they’ve basically said we’ll throw that open effectively to all states so we can build wind farms in Victoria and South Australia and sell into the NSW market,” he said.

“If the Liberal Party is put in to Government then they’ve said, well, it’ll only be from NSW projects.”
