Council approval for mast

Plans for a 200ft high wind mast on land in rural Shropshire have been approved by councillors, despite protests.

The 60m mast will be put up on farm land near Market Drayton by energy company Nuon Renewables. It will be the tallest in the county.

District councillors yesterday voted by five to four in favour of the application, which had provoked hundreds of objections from people in the area between Woore and Loggerheads.

During yesterday’s meeting at the Festival Drayton Centre in Market Drayton councillors were heckled and jeered by campaigners furious at the decision.
