Anger at turbines scheme

A huge wind farm development set to surround a Dulais Valley village has been criticised by community councillors.

Members of Crynant Community Council visited an exhibition last month on how their lives would be affected by the 11-turbine wind farm in Mynydd Marchywel, between Rhos and Cilfrew.

Now they have spoken out against the Renewable Energy Systems’ (RES) plan to build the wind farm.

Councillor Mike Evans said: “My own view is that they are horrific.

“I never thought they would be seen above the skyline from here.”

Councillor Heather Coats said: “They are over 400 feet high.”

Councillor Jack Crowther said: “They are going to be the highest wind turbines they are putting anywhere on land.”
