Villagers' outrage at turbine plan

Villagers in Deeping St Nicholas have spoken of their anger at plans to build 16 more wind turbines near their homes.

People living in Deeping St Nicholas met at a public meeting on Friday to discuss proposals to build the 120m wind turbines, in addition to another 10 proposed close to Holbeach Drove and Gedney Hill.

The meeting at Deeping St Nicholas Primary School drew strong opposition to proposals by energy giant Iberdrola on a site at Church Farm.

Parish councillor Julian Davis said: “It’s just disbelief at the moment ““ it has hit home and is shocking a lot of people.”

The parish council has been asked by South Holland District Council to comment on the impact of proposals for the 120m tall turbines.

The company has also submitted proposals for up to 10 120m wind turbines on eight separate fields at Langary Gate Farm, Langary Gate Road, north of Holbeach Drove and Gedney Hill.
