A public meeting will be held next month for West Norfolk villagers who are worried that a huge wind farm could be built on their doorstep.
Congham Parish Council has called the meeting after it was passed leaked documents which showed that a major electricity supplier was had shown an interest in building 26, 110metre turbines on farmland off the B1153 in the village.
Now the council has decided to call a public meeting to inform residents of what it has learned about the proposed wind farm.
The meeting may also provide an opportunity to form an action group which can keep a watching brief on the situation if a planning application is submitted in the future.
Papers passed to the council showed that the international energy company Iberdrola has been looking at whether building the farm near Congham was feasible and it is claimed it had instructed Hyder Consulting to look into it for them.
Neither company was available, nor at this stage no application has been submitted to West Norfolk Council.
However the parish council is concerned that an application could be submitted in the future and is calling a meeting to inform residents of what they know at this stage and any potential impact such a proposal could have.
The public meeting will be held at St Andrew’s Church, Congham from 7pm until 7.30pm on Monday March 12.
