More support for Kingsbridge wind

The Kingsbridge 2 wind energy project, just north of Goderich may be on hold – but the Reeve of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh believes it will go ahead.

Ben Van Diepenbeek says he believes Epcor will eventually go ahead with its 300-million-dollar project.

He says his council will meet Tuesday night (FEB. 20) to amend its setback zoning bylaws which he says, Epcor has indicated they can live with.

Van Diepenbeek believes the new bylaw will pass.

He says the bylaw issue is just one small piece of the puzzle as Epcor re-evaluates the various deadlines it had to meet with the province and with equipment purchases.

Van Diepenbeek says his council has investigated the noise and health issues that have been brought in conjunction with wind farms and he believes it’s time to move forward.

Van Diepenbeek believes Epcor is still committed to the project despite being put on hold.

Epcor planned to construct 69 wind turbines just north of Goderich as part of their Kingsbridge 2 energy project.

It would produce about 158 megawatts of power when up and running.
