Protest group in school meeting

A Cilfrew campaign group is holding a public meeting tomorrow.Cilfrew Residents Association will hold the meeting at 7pm in the local primary school.

Renewable Energy Systems (RES) wants to put 12 giant 417ft turbines on Mynydd March Hwyel, between Cilfrew and Rhos.

It is hoped the 27 MW wind farm would provide electricity equivalent to the needs of more than 14,000 homes.

But residents in Cilfrew, who are already fighting plans for a gas station near the village, have declared their opposition to the scheme.

They have written to every community council in the county inviting members to attend.

A spokeswoman for the association said: “These turbines will be huge and will be seen for miles around, so we think it is only fair people in surrounding areas are informed about it.”
