Council to vote on more wind farm planning

Hepburn council will tonight vote to allow plans for a wind farm, near Daylesford, to proceed.

A community group wants to build a small wind farm on Leonard’s Hill, a peak on the Great Dividing Range.

Consisting of two 68 metre tall turbines, the farm would create enough energy to power more than 2,000 homes each year.

Eighteen people have objected to the wind farm plans, while the council has received 325 positive submissions.

Tonight’s vote will not mean construction can begin, but will allow detailed planning to continue.

A report to be tabled at tonight’s meeting says the wind farm will contribute positively to the Leonard’s Hill environment, not look too intrusive and not have any impact on nearby airfields.

It says discussion about how the wind farm may affect property prices is speculative.
