Residents say sites aren’t being examined; officer in charge is living in Florida.
BEAR CREEK TWP. ““ Some township residents are upset over a lack of inspections at the Bear Creek windmill site, supervisors were told at their meeting Monday.
Frank Egenski, who is the township’s sewage enforcement officer, was not there to inspect the construction of several buildings on the site and a septic holding tank, they said.
“Mr. Egenski needs to do his job,” said Supervisor Bonnie J. Wasilewski.
Supervisor Ruth Ann Koval said Egenski also refuses to attend township meetings because he does not wish to be used as a “political football.”
In addition to his refusal to appear at meetings, he is also unavailable to attend meetings because he will be living in Florida until May. For the time being, two of his sons will be taking over supervision of the site.
Because of the lack of inspections, several people said fines should be imposed. Also, some believe the septic holding tank is too close to a nearby water well.
Tom Susko of Ball Mountain Wind Farm gave a production report and status of the wind farm. In the past month, two towers were under repair and the towers’ output suffered from the freezing temperatures.
Susko said that alternative energy from sources such as the windmills is essential to curb global warming.
