Moyne councillors have toured the site chosen for a wind farm north-east of Penshurst.
Between 13 and 15 wind turbines have been proposed spanning the boundaries of the Moyne and Southern Grampians shires.
Most of the turbines would be in the Moyne Shire and the farm would product 30 megawatts of power.
Moyne Mayor Gerald Madden says despite planning being in the early stages, nine objections to the proposed facility have been made.
“These towers are projected to go on ridges where the best opportunity is for gaining the most wind and they are on fairly open country, but nonetheless the objections need to be taken on the merit and we will do that as a matter of course,” he said.
Dunkheld resident Lee Mailor says he is opposed to the wind farm due to the height of the towers and the closeness of the turbines to properties at Woodhouse.
He says it is a concern that lots of wind farm applications are being dealt with in isolation.
“They seem to be popping up everywhere and what we say in our submission [is] there is a real concern that we go from what is in my view a very attractive piece of Australia and we will almost see a semicontinuous industrialised landscape if we are not careful,” he said.
