A power company has submitted an application to build 60 wind turbines in the Greater Wash.
The wind farm will be capable of supplying clean electricity to around 140,000 homes.
Applicant Centrica already has permission for two 30-turbine wind farms to be built four miles off the Lincolnshire coast later this year.
It is estimated the project will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 570 tonnes a year.
The company said it had completed a full environmental impact assessment for the latest proposed wind farm site.
“It is a planning application, we need to take some time to study the data and also study the economics of the project over the next couple of years, before we decide actually whether we are going to move it forward,” said a Centrica spokesman.
Power from the offshore wind farm would come ashore in north Norfolk via undersea power cables.
If it gets the go ahead, building work could start in 2009.
