Industrial wind power vs. environment

With the ever-increasing emphasis on the need to diversify our energy resources, industrial wind power is becoming an attractive renewable alternative. Lucile Miller, a noted Virginia environmentalist from Sperryville, spoke on the environmental impact of wind power at the Rappahannnock Association for the Arts and the Community (RAAC) “Second Friday at the Library” series held January 12. She noted that while most leading environmental organizations have supported wind-energy development in the past, some are now reassessing their position as more evidence mounts on the dangers of industrial wind turbines that kill many thousands of bats and birds annually.
