Turbine demand to delay Lexton wind farm plans

Construction of the Lexton wind farm is unlikely to start until next year because of a worldwide demand for turbines.

Pyrenees Council approved the plan for the 19 turbines on Tuesday night.

But Wind Power managing director Steven Buckle says despite the introduction of the Victorian Renewable Energy Target, the company is yet to find a buyer for the power.

“The wind industry is a challenge, the whole of the industry is a challenge and we just move through each step as it comes and we’ll be working on that,” he said.

“It’s something that now we can get on with and talk to those companies about.”
