New plans for two 100-metre high wind turbines near South Molton have been submitted to planning officers at North Devon District Council.
Along with plans submitted by npower renewables for nine turbines at Batsworthy Cross, the proposal for the two generators near Knowstone by Cross Moor Devon Light & Power is now the second wind farm in the parish being looked at by the authority.
According to a report by agent Wardell Armstrong International, the scheme proposed for farmland at Cross Moor, on the border of the Exmoor national park, would generate electricity for 2,795 homes.
Caroline Harvey, secretary of the Two Moors Campaign, a group opposed to plans at Batsworthy, told

the Gazette that the Cross Moor application lacked information for the group to give it any significant consideration at this stage.
“Each case for a wind farm deserves to be looked at on an individual basis. There is not much detail submitted with the application and we would welcome more information.
“Clearly, though, the impact on the landscape of two giant turbines is not something that we would approve of in any way.”
Last week, the Exmoor National Park Authority said it opposed plans for a wind farm at Batsworthy Cross.
“The importance of the landscape, its remoteness, openness and wildness was something taken into consideration by the national park authority in reaching their decision,” said Mrs Harvey.
