The explorer and adventurer Sir Ranulph Fiennes has added his name to the objections to a proposed wind farm at Blackcraig in the Glenkens.
A final decision on whether to object to the plans has been deferred to full council by its planning committee.
Late submissions to the authority included a letter from Sir Ranulph against the proposals.
He urged councillors to object to the “grotesque industrialisation” of the area by the 23-turbine plan.
In his letter, Sir Ranulph expresses his love for Scotland where he says he has spent a great deal of his life.
His view is that wind farms are being foisted on the Scottish people and that locals are being ridden over roughshod.

He describes Blackcraig – a ridge with Cairnsmore of Carsphairn to the north and Screel to the south – as one of the outstanding visual reference points for many miles around.
Planning councillors had been expected to give their verdict on the plans at a meeting in Dumfries but instead deferred the decision to full council.
The authority had previously decided to lodge its objections to the proposals on the grounds of its landscape impact.
However, a dozen councillors invoked special procedures to force that decision back to the committee which, in turn, passed it on to full council.
It is now more than four months since Dumfries and Galloway Council first considered the plans.
