Another Victory for Wind Farms

The state Public Service Commission rejects four appeals against a proposed wind farm in Greenbrier County.

The Chicago-based company hopes to start construction this year on a the 300 (m) million-dollar project.

Invenergy plans to build the 124-turbine Beech Ridge Energy wind farm in northern Greenbrier County.

In a the ruling, the P-S-C rejected the appeals of Mountain Communities for Responsible Energy and several local residents.

They argued that the proposed wind farm would hurt property values, spoil scenic views and kill endangered bats.

Dave Bhurman with Mountain Communities for Responsible Energy says the group plans to take its appeal to the state Supreme Court.
