Save the watershed

Death of a watershed and wilderness area.

Yes, death of a watershed and pristine wilderness area enjoyed by many in the area!

The Windber Area Authority’s watershed and recharge area has been sentenced to death. This death sentence is being imposed by Gov. Ed Rendell, and will be executed by Gamesa Energy, Berwind Natural Resources Corporation, a few greedy private landowners, and of course the many spin-doctors needed to sway public opinion.

This death-sentence will be accomplished by the ill-placement of 34 Wind Turbines, with more likely to follow, directly in the watershed and recharge area! Wind Turbines, will be placed within approximately 3,000 feet of W.A.A. well-heads!

Windber Area Authority supplies pure, good tasting, high quality drinking water to approximately 10,000 customers in Windber and surrounding municipalities.

Also, this watershed and recharge area that will be devastated is home to three high quality and exceptional value trout streams. The streams being Clear Shade Creek, Cub Run Creek and Piney Run Creek.

This “death sentence” is being very skillfully crafted and disguised by the spin doctors and will be executed under the guise of Greene-Alternative Energy!

What can you do? Plenty, for starters, everyone served by Windber Area Authority should attend the upcoming Windber Borough Council meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Windber Municipal Building.

Make your presence known, you – one person – you can make a difference. It’s your drinking water, you have the right as a citizen and also a customer in preserving it’s quality and integrity. Above all – don’t pass the buck – be there!

Find out the truth about ill-placed Wind Energy, not just what the spin doctors would have you believe.

In closing – I’ll be there – will you?
