Public meeting into windfarm

A public meeting will be held regarding the proposed construction of 81 metre-tall wind turbines in North Cornwall.

A planning committee due to make a decision about the installation of three wind turbines will visit the proposed site in Morwenstow and then hold a public meeting.

The planning committee for North Cornwall District Council agreed this on Wednesday, at a meeting in Camelford.

West Coast Energy has applied to build three turbines but protesters say these will destroy the natural beauty and wildlife in the area.

Campaigners welcomed the news. Morwenstow Against Turbines chairman John Moxey said: “I was pleased with the way the meeting went. We’ve asked for any public meeting to be held in the evening so people can get home from work.”

The date of the site visit and the meeting has not yet been decided.
