Next stage for inquiries

The next stage in a series of public inquiries held in Perth and Kinross, triggered by four controversial giant windfarm planning bids, will begin next week.

The Scottish Executive has appointed Karen Heywood to decide the four appeals, two of them in the Ochil Hills, lodged after the council rejected the planning bids for the multimillion-pound turbines last June and November.

They are proposed for Little Law, Corb and Coulshill Farms, Auchterarder; Mellock Hill, Crook of Devon; Snow- goat Glen, near Dunning, and Lochelbank Farm, Glenfarg.

The Mellock Hill inquiry will open at 10am on Tuesday in the Gartwhinzean Hotel, Powmill.

The fourth and final site-specific inquiry, relating to Little Law, will start at 10am on January 23, in the Glenfarg Hotel.

Inquiries into the Snowgoat Glen and Lochelbank Farm proposals have already been held.
