Drivers warned to watch for huge trucks

Drivers in northern Tasmania are being asked to watch out for massive trucks over the next few weeks.

A shipment of wind tower parts is being delivered to the Woolnorth wind farm site, on specially constructed trucks.

Paul Olendrowsky from the infrastructure department says the trucks may be travelling on the wrong side of the road or taking up both lanes.

“These trucks are probably up to twice as long as the standard trucks,” he said.

“They’re purpose-built and up to two transport inspectors go with each load, so they’re well protected.”
