Temporary wind towers approved in N.H.

A potential wind energy project is moving forward in the North Country with the approval of two temporary wind measurement towers.

The proposed towers would be erected in Odell and Millsfield. Because both sites are unincorporated places the project is under the jurisdiction of the Coos County planning board.

Consultant Martha Staskas of Vermont Environmental Research Associates said the proposal was reviewed by a Fish and Game Department biologist who recommended it go ahead.

Staskas says a 197-foot tower will go up near Trio Ponds in Odell and a 164-foot tower will be erected on Owlhead Mountain in Millsfield. She said they will be installed in the spring and remain up for at least a year to collect data.
