DHS City Council votes no on giant windmills

The city of Desert Hot Springs has voted “no” on giant windmills being built near the town. The city council voted 4-to-1 for a resolution opposing plans for new windmill construction outside the city limits.

A majority of the city council has spoken out against the tall windmills in the past, saying they would destroy the mountain views of many neighboring residents.

Windmill companies say the new windmills will be safe and good for the state’s energy needs.

Even though the city voted against the windmills, it might not make a difference because the windmills would be built on county land, giving the city very little, if any, say in the matter.
