The Lewisville City Council won’t decide this year how much of the front yard of a residence may be paved.
After much discussion on the subject at two or three previous meetings, the council approved a consent agenda item without discussion Monday night to again table the proposal.
City Manager Claude King said, “We want to look at some other ideas, and lay out all options.”
The council earlier had looked at the possibility of limiting paving in front yards to no more than 50 percent, then later appeared almost ready to lower that figure to 40 percent.
However, no decision will be made until at least the regular council meeting set for Jan. 22, 2007.
The council, without hesitation, did vote unanimously to amend the Lewisville Code of Ordinances to prohibit the use of wind turbines for the generation of electric power within the city limits of Lewisville.
The council agreed that, at least until technology improves so the wind turbines will create less noise, that they will not be allowed in the city limits.
In other consent agenda action Monday night, the council:
· approved a bid award for an annual requirement contract for Type D, Grade 1 Flex Base Material to Big City Crushed Concrete of Dallas, for an estimated amount of $102,000; and
· approved an inter-local agreement for library services with Denton County.
Denton County has requested that the Lewisville Public Library provide library services for all residents of Denton County. In exchange for such services, Oct. 1, 2006 n Sept. 30, 2007, Denton county will pay the city of Lewisville $0.769 per capita ($109,424), based on population figures provided by the North Central Texas Council of Governments.
