Committee rejects Four Corners wind farm

An application for a wind farm on the edge of town, by developer Allan Kettles, has been rejected by a planning committee made up of the Town and Municipal District of Pincher Creek.
The Intermunicipal Development Plan Committee recommended that the proposal for the four turbine farm be turned down on the basis that two of the turbines are in the urban fringe.

Current guidelines state that wind turbines are not a permitted use in the urban fringe. Discussions are also under way to include the land that the other two turbines are proposed for into the urban fringe.
The Four Corners Wind Farm is still to come before the MD’s Municipal Planning Commission for a decision.
