A resurrected proposal to build three 90-metre wind turbines in the Westcountry countryside has been discussed at a public exhibition.In 2005, NPower withdrew plans to build the turbines at Goveton, near Kingsbridge. But now Cornwall Light and Power (CLP) is planning to submit similar proposals, in a move which has angered residents. The company held the exhibition at the Buckland-tout-Saints Hotel yesterday.
Jen Barwell, who owns property at Goveton, said: “It’s outrageous. It’s going to impact on such a huge area of the South Hams, where we are into natural things, not high-tech equipment and vibrations and noise.”
Tristan Mackie, of CLP, said the company was carrying out tests on sound and the impact on the landscape. He said the Goveton site was desirable because it has high wind speeds. He believed that the issue of visual impact was “very subjective”.
