In November 2003, Your Energy announced plans to build a windfarm at Hinkley Point that would supply 20,000 homes with electricity, save 74,500 tonnes of CO? from entering the atmosphere, be easily connected to the grid and prevent any expansion of nuclear power in the area.Well, it won’t. The windfarm will now supply just over 8,000 homes and save just 20,600 tonnes of CO?. The connection to the grid will require cables from the site, across the Quantock Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty, to the far side of Williton.

The removal of three turbines from the original scheme will make way for Hinkley C which, in comparison, will supply 1.5 million homes and save 4.5 million tonnes of CO? a year.
