Rondeau proposes simplifying of wind turbine titles

Jim Rondeau, Manitoba’s science, technology, energy and mines minister, has proposed an amendment to legislation that would simplify registering for wind turbine easements and title searches.

The proposed legislation would amend the Federal Real Property Act by adding a further easement category that would permit a title to be issued for that interest in land for wind turbines. Currently, titles can be issued under the act for pipeline easements related to the operation of a pipeline. The proposed amendment would extend this provision to easements.

“Amending this legislation will reduce the costs for searching property and will help facilitate the transfer of property,” Rondeau says.
