Rules for wind energy before Planning Board

The Pomfret Planning Board continued Tuesday night to discuss the proposed wind-energy ordinance.

Officials said they were being cautious about constructing the measure and Tuesday discussed revising setback footage for wetlands, roadways and school zones.

In particular, officials are considering increasing the road setback for a wind turbine to 1,500 feet, from the initially proposed 500 feet. School setbacks are proposed at 2,500 feet.

Jeffrey Passafaro, the town’s attorney, will further review the proposal, and public hearings will be scheduled.
