Turbines would mar landscape

As an objector to the Dakota area wind turbine power plant, I am grateful to the Zoning Board of Appeals for giving us a voice. However, your description of the turbines proposed for the EcoEnergy project is lacking.

The tower may be 264 feet but the 133 foot spinning blades atop that tower push the height to 397 feet, a full 100 feet taller than the Mendota Hills wind turbine you so picturesquely depicted in your photo on page 1 of the November 14 issue of this newspaper. And those blades will spin almost constantly.

How can we ask citizens of this county to live surrounded by these 400-foot machines? I encourage anyone to check the site map at the commission office on Lamm Road to see for themselves the sacrifice we are expecting from a significant number of our neighbors. Neighbors who only wish to enjoy the beautiful landscape and the rolling farmland our county provides, for the present anyway.
