A project to develop a 23-turbine wind farm on a hillside in the Glenkens has been recommended for council approval.
The plans were initially deferred after an application was tabled for a similar scheme on a neighbouring site.
Despite concerns about the cumulative impact, planning officials have recommended that councillors back the Blackcraig development.
The Stewartry area committee will give its decision at a meeting in Kirkcudbright town hall.
The plans have already been considered at a special meeting in Castle Douglas in September.
Concerns about another proposed development at nearby Margree led to the deferral of a decision.
Objection letters
The authority has now received a recommendation to back the scheme.
More than 500 people have objected to the plans, with another 80 representations in favour of the Scottish and Southern Energy proposal.
Campaign group Galloway Landscape and Renewable Energy (Glare) has raised concerns about the visual, ecological and recreational impact of the plans.
Letters received from those backing the proposal claim it would be environmentally friendly and is not opposed by the majority of local people.
The final decision on the scheme will be made by the Scottish Executive.
