In other business last night, the town board:
“¢ WIND POWER – Appointed an advisory committee to hold discussions with a wind energy company and report back to the board.
The committee plans to meet Monday with Keith Pitman, CEO of Empire State Wind Energy. The Oneida-based company has expressed interest in developing wind farms in the area, and the town board last month passed a resolution supporting the feasibility studies Empire State plans to conduct.
Pitman has said the company is interested only in projects acceptable to residents and financially beneficial to the community.
The advisory committee consists of Terry VanStean, Dan LaGasse, Councilman James Brady, Councilman Earl Buchanan, Lyons school district Assistant Superintendent Dave Alena and a yet-to-be-named representative from the village.
The Town Board did not empower its members to make decisions, instead authorizing them only to meet with Empire State’s representatives and report back.
