Turbine plan submitted

A controversial wind-farm planning application has been made to North Devon District Council.NPower project manager Simon Holt delivered to the local authority the application to build up to nine turbines at Batsworthy Cross, which is on the southern fringe of Exmoor.

The firm said the plan could bring 18 meagwatts of power and “clean” electricity for 8,000 homes.

The mooted plan was strongly supported and opposed by various local campaigners.

Mr Holt said: “It’s a fabulous day for the wind farm and we are confident we are delivering a comprehensive environmental statement to North Devon council.

“We have had a supportive response to date and would now urge anyone who backs the use of wind power to get behind the project.”
