Firm threatens action if forced to resubmit wind farm plans

Power company West Wind is threatening legal action if it is made to resubmit plans for a wind farm near Mt Mercer.

The Victorian Opposition says it will force wind companies to completely reapply for projects that have not yet been granted planning approval, if it wins next month’s election.

West Wind’s Toby Geiger says such a move would kill Australia’s wind sector.

“Having a similar event by a wind farm planning approval process being sent back right to the start of the planning process, I reckon that’d be the final straw for the wind industry here in Australia,” he said.

“I’m pretty sure that most overseas companies would simply walk away.”
