Wind myths exposed

I agree completely with Roger Knight’s letter (Post, October 24), we must expose the myths with regard to wind power, so I will trot out the following research results. A wind power report published by ABS, an independent market research company founded in 1990 which specialises in global energy market research and provides information to companies, government bodies and organisations, states: “Energy agencies in USA, Germany, Spain, Denmark and Ireland report the claimed saving in greenhouse gases has been questioned. Wind power’s intermittency places a large strain on system balance. Each country reported extreme difficulties in balancing the grid: switching fossil fuel power plants on and off to balance supply produces higher carbon emissions.

“These studies are the first real evidence to show how wind actually works, as opposed to what has been claimed, and come from some of the most authoritative voices on energy, E. on Netz and Eltra of Denmark, which has the largest percentage of wind power contribution and the largest wind power feed in the world, and it shows disturbing results.”

ABS Research are experts in this sector and this report was compiled with the help of the regulators and assistance from governments and energy organisations.
