Executive decision on windfarm plan?

A decision as to whether a Howe of Fife windfarm proposal should go ahead may be seized from the hands of the local authority.

The Fife Herald can reveal that planners will not have made a decision on the five-turbine application by the November 4 deadline, meaning developer EnergieKontor can appeal to the Scottish Executive.

The last chance for the submission to come before councillors is at next week’s local development committee.
However, leading planner, Alastair Hamilton, confirmed that Fife Council was still collecting consultation responses and a date for a decision was still to be set.

This means the German-based energy giant is free to submit an appeal to Holyrood on the grounds of non-determination, which would leave Scottish Ministers to decide the controversial windfarm’s fate.
