Wind energy developer concentrates on New England

Noble Environmental Power, an Essex, Conn.-based wind energy developer that is majority-owned by J.P. Morgan Partners, has formed a partnership with Vermont Environmental Research Associates (VERA), a wind power risk assessment corporation based in Waterbury Center, Vt., to evaluate potential wind farm sites in New England.

Noble’s preliminary site evaluation will include a study to see if there is enough constant wind to support energy generation throughout New England, as well as discussion with local communities. VERA has experience working in the region after managing the Searsburg, Deerfield and Lowell projects in Vermont and the Hoosac project in Massachusetts.

“As our nation moves to create clean and renewable energy sources, New England’s excellent wind resources and commitment to the environment make it well positioned to become a leader,” says Charles C. Hinckley, Noble’s chief executive officer. “VERA’s knowledge of the area reputation in the region make them a perfect partner. We look forward to working closely with them as we begin our preliminary site analysis.”
