The director of a company that wants to build a wind farm in Henry County told residents Thursday “our intent is to be a good neighbor for the next 30 years.”
Residents came to an informal meeting at the Geneseo Community Center for information on CPV Inc. and its plans for about 200 wind towers in Henry County.
The CPV Wind Spring Creek project would place 135 towers between Cambridge and Geneseo and would cost about $270 million, director Peter Pawlowski said.
The project has already secured 10,000 acres of land for the towers through leases with landowners.
A second project from the company would bring 67 towers to the area between Cambridge and Kewanee called the CPV Wind Midland project.
Pawlowski said the towers will each generate property taxes for the county and will create one job per 10 to 20 towers.
CPV officials will meet will meet with the Henry County Planning Commission at 7 p.m. Monday and with the Henry County Zoning Board at 7 p.m. Wednesday to seek permit approval for the towers.
If the permits are approved by those boards and the Henry County Board, construction could begin by May 2007 or in 2008, Pawlowski said.
Greenlight Energy and Invenergy LLC have also proposed wind farms for the county. They are at various stages in the permitting process.
