EDP wins 1,000 mw wind farm auction

Manuel Pinho, the economy minister, will announce in the next few days that EDP – Energias de Portugal SA has won the auction of 1,000 megawatts in wind farm capacity, Diario Economico reported, cited sources involved in the process.
A consortium headed by Galp Energia, which was the other shortlisted bidder in the 1,000 mw tender, has been given a month to revise its proposal for a further 400-600 mw of wind energy capacity, according to Jornal de Negocios.
Two other consortiums, led by Iberdrola SA and by Enel with Union Fenosa SA, have been given the same opportunity, the business daily said.
Diario Economic also reported that the government will tell EDP and Iberdrola that there is room for each of the two companies to build two 400 mw combined cycle power plants at Figuera da Foz.
