RES have written to the Parish Councils of Hutton Cranswick, Watton, and Skerne & Wansford giving details of a revised proposal for the wind power station.
It is now proposed that an array of 10 turbines will be sited in the area to the south and west of Rotsea and a preliminary layout has been submitted to the Parish Councils and is available to view. The new wind farm proposal will be called Rotsea Wind farm and it is reported that RES will hold a further exhibition.
RES are also preparing to submit a new planning application for a wind monitoring mast (anemometer) to be located close to Rotsea and our sources suggest this can be expected to be lodged within the next month and will be followed closely by a full planning application for the wind farm.
Whilst many hoped that following the defeat of the previous anemometer planning application the threat of industrialisation of our landscape had gone away, but with the vast profits available to the developers and landowners for producing very little it was a certainty that they would return.
More worryingly, when challenged, RES refused to rule out further development in the area confirming concerns that usual tactics from the developers are in play where they scale down the proposal and, once planning is granted, return with applications to extend and often justify this on the basis of the area already being “spoiled”. This is supported by evidence from all round the country of villages and communities becoming completely surrounded and dominated by these massive structures.
As before WWFO will be tracking the situation carefully and will provide information and guidance in the fight to defeat this proposal.
David Bellamy supports wind farm opponents
A presentation by David Bellamy, the well known conservationist, supported by Bob Graham, Chairman of Highlands Against Wind Farms produced a full house at Far Grange Caravan Park, Skipsea last Monday night. The audience was left in no doubt as to the damage inflicted by wind power stations and extensive research was presented which showed how completely ineffective they are and will make absolutely no impact in combating global warming and if the scientists are correct we will be in serious trouble if wind turbines are relied upon.
What is really needed is a balanced energy policy that brings forward more effective solutions coupled with conservation and reduction of energy consumption. For example it was cited at the meeting that if everybody replaced just one light bulb in their home with a low energy type this would save substantially more electricity than can be produced by the whole of the installed wind turbines in the country!
