Shoppers can view plans for two giant wind turbines if they visit the Asda store in Falkirk.
An exhibition has been set up in the Newmarket Street store and can be viewed today (Thursday) and tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It showcases information about the store group’s proposals for a renewable energy project, siting a wind turbine at its distribution depots in Falkirk and Grangemouth.
The team will also be at the Dawson Community Centre in David’s Loan, Bainsford on Monday, October 2, from 10.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
It is proposed that the wind turbines will be located in the depot car parks and will generate enough electricity to fully power the depot at Grangemouth and provide threequarters of the energy needed to power the depot at Falkirk. Any surplus green energy will be transferred to the National Grid to power homes and businesses around the area.
Bob Simpson, Asda’s head of change management, said: “Wind turbines are a clean, safe way of producing energy and it is an exciting time for Asda and Falkirk.
“We are currently developing plans and we want to ensure that the community is fully aware of the details of the scheme and is comfortable with the proposed project. Thorough studies are currently being conducted and we want to invite people to come into the store, take a look at the information on offer and ask our experts any questions that they may have.”
