A long-running dispute over the planned erection of new power lines in Co Cork has been resolved following mediation talks.
A number of farmers in Bantry were vehemently opposed to the erection of pylons to link a new wind farm with the national grid.
They wanted the lines laid underground and had even offered to dig the trenches themselves.
The developer behind the project has now agreed to place the cables underground and to compensate the affected landowners for the move.
The agreement was reached after mediation talks overseen by ICSA president Malcolm Thompson, who said today that the deal was a win-win situation for both sides.
