Name a wind turbine

Thirteen ucky children will have a wind turbine named after them, thanks to a new competition.

Powergen parent company, German- based energy giant E.ON, wants local kids to produce poems or paintings about wind power.

Spokesman Jason Scagell said: “We’d like young people to think more about the important role wind farms play in the fight against climate change.”

The 13 winners will each have a wind turbine named after them at Royd Moor near Penistone.

They will also receive a framed photograph of their turbine, a certificate, a stunt kite and a goody bag.

The competition is open to children in the Holme Valley.

Entries should go to Joanne Haddon, E.ON UK, Renewables, Westwood Way, Westwood Business Park, Coventry, CV4 8LG by November 30 with the child’s age, address, phone number and e-mail.
