Could a wind of change be blowing through the councils?

A CALL has come for closer ties between the planning departments at East Lindsey District Council and Lincolnshire County Council.

“There needs to be more harmony,” Coun Clive Finch told an ELDC planning meeting.

“There should be bonding.”

His comments came after district head of planning Ian Trowsdale confirmed there were soon to be joint talks between the two authorities – specifically about the long-running scheme for a windfarm at Orby Marsh, near Hogsthorpe.

Some committee members – notably Coun Daniel Simpson – are worried the district council might run up substantial legal costs in defending its opposition to the project when it goes before an inquiry, probably in the New Year.

He told the meeting: “Let the county council take the lead – let them get on with it.”
Mr Trowsdale pledged to report back to the committee about the outcome of the proposed talks with his county council counterparts.
