Windmills, conservation, etc.

Kansans interested in the future of energy in their communities will have an abundance of workshops available next week at the Kansas Renewable Energy Conference at the Ramada Inn in Topeka.

The annual event will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday and continue through Wednesday. Speakers will showcase a range of emerging renewable energy and conservation projects and possibilities.

This year’s lineup includes sessions on a wind-powered hog farm; how to use solar panels in the home; conservation improvement projects around Kansas; the John Deere Company’s “Community Wind Model;” “Prospects for School Wind in Atwood;” among others.

For more information, call the event’s main sponsor, the Kansas Energy Office, at (785) 271-3349. The Web site can be viewed at http://www.kcc.state.ks.us/energy/.
