New proposal for Bald Hills wind farm

New plans for a wind farm proposed for Bald Hills at Gippsland, in Victoria’s south-east, will be made public today.

In April the Federal Government overturned approval for the project, out of concern it could hurt the orange bellied parrot.

The company windpower has been allowed to submit another plan, after it challenged the decision in court.

It is understood the new proposal does not include major changes to the original plan for 52 turbines.

The Federal Environment Minister, Ian Campbell, says he is happy to consider new information on whether the project is appropriate for the site.

“I’m definitely going to look at the submission with a fresh set of eyes, I’m also keen that people in the local area have a chance to do that as well,” he said.
