Wind farm meeting

bridlingtontoday.co.uk

The latest round of consultations over a controversial wind farm scheme has taken place.

Members of the public were given the opportunity to look at the development of the 12-turbine site proposed for Lissett airfield at a public meeting at Rickaby Hall, Ulrome, last Friday and Saturday.

Some members of STiER (Stop Turbines in East Riding) ““ the group opposing the construction of the turbines ““ attended the meeting to air their concerns.

No open meeting between STiER and Novera Energy, which is planning the site, has yet taken place.

Graham Moore, of STiER, said: “We are not against renewable energy, we just want it in a more respectable area where it won’t affect people and split communities.”

The size of the site has been reduced to help allay fears it will be extended after the turbines are constructed.

Novera has also promised to plant woodland around villages most visually affected by the turbines.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is due to decide on the planning application by the end of the year.
